Greenwood Hills Park
A 1/2-mile stretch of degraded tributary ran through residential areas from Long Meadow Drive to NW 86th Street in Johnston, IA. Nilles Associates, Inc. conducted the survey, acquisition, planning, design, public participation, and administration of a multi-phase watershed improvement project and park on the tributary. Improvements included a 1-acre pond with a forebay and staged outlet structure, riffle dams, slope grading, and shoreline stabilization. Park elements include a pedestrian bridge, an accessible fishing pier, trail replacement and extension, native plantings and tree preservation.
